The Scene of the Crime

With this work I wanted to show complex character relationships to tell a story within one illustration. The final image could be placed within a book or accompanying a short story.

The limited color palette highlights the most important storytelling elements. For example, the wedding rings on the victim’s hand as well as the murderess’s hand are gold, while the pool of blood stands out in stark red. The murderess’s lips and nails are the same red which tie her visually to the dead body.

The Process

The work is drawn on five separate pieces of paper to add three-dimensionality and a tactile feel.
